KISO manufactures the tapes, membranes and gaskets used to seal the building envelope: air and vapour barriers, sills, pipe penetrations and joist protection. Because KISO compounds its own rubber, a compound can be adapted to the task, whether a diffusion-open membrane, a capillary break or a joist tape. For manufacturers of building systems and for distributors, KISO can produce to your specification and supply under your own brand, including packaging, printing and labels. Founded in 1971 and ISO 9001 certified, with production in Køge and customers in 20+ European countries.
Air and vapour sealing for the building envelope
Maintaining an airtight, moisture-controlled building envelope — beyond just the window and door apertures — is a core requirement for modern, energy-efficient construction. KISO 508 Lining Barrier provides inner sealing developed to meet the Danish Building Regulations’ (BR) requirements for vapour barriers, while KISO 513 Diff-Open-PP-Butyl is a diffusion-open membrane for outer sealing, allowing the building to breathe without compromising airtightness. Used together, the two form a complete inner/outer sealing solution for the building’s climate screen.
Sill sealing and capillary break
KISO Sill Gasket acts as a capillary break between the foundation or ground slab and the construction above, preventing air, vapour and moisture from penetrating the building from below. Widely used in pre-fabricated buildings at wall, floor and ceiling joints, its low-friction membrane also allows repositioning of a timber frame during installation.
Joints, pipe penetrations and panel joints
KISO 354, KISO 458, KISO 501 and KISO 502 provide an air- and watertight seal around construction joints and pipe penetrations, while KISO PP Profile seals the joint between external wall panels in pre-fabricated buildings.
Joist and beam protection
KISO 504 Alu-Butyl Joist Tape provides a moisture barrier for deck joists, beams, rim joists and structural timber elements, protecting timber-frame construction against moisture ingress at vulnerable structural connections.

See moreA capillary break is a material layer that stops moisture from being drawn upward from the ground or foundation into a building’s structure. KISO Sill Gasket is placed between the foundation and the construction above to prevent this kind of moisture ingress.
The inner vapour barrier (KISO 508 Lining Barrier) stops warm, moist indoor air from entering the construction, while the outer, diffusion-open membrane (KISO 513 Diff-Open-PP-Butyl) lets moisture escape outward. Used together, they keep the building airtight while still allowing it to breathe.
Yes. KISO 354, 458, 501 and 502 are used to seal joints and pipe penetrations in the building envelope, providing a permanent air- and watertight barrier around the penetration.
Yes. KISO 504 Alu-Butyl Joist Tape is developed for joist, beam and rim joist protection, creating a waterproof moisture barrier on structural timber elements.
